Broyles Comes Back to his Alma Mater

Chad Broyles is the new U.S. and world history teacher in room 700. After Broyles spent his time as a student in the Trojan Nation, West High now welcomes him to be a part of the 2024-25 staff. Accepting his new position, Broyles feels most at home and cared for when at West compared to his previous teaching jobs. He states, “That is what separates this school from the rest. I needed to be a part of this school again, and it has always been my goal to get back to the place I belong.” Broyles received his education from East Tennessee State University and obtained his bachelors in history along with a minor in secondary education.

Growing up in Morristown, one of Broyles favorite moments was getting to know more about his teachers and their lives. He explains, “I always enjoyed being able to form a connection with my teachers and hearing their stories.” This included where they grew up, their aspirations, and where they went to school. For enjoyment outside of school, Broyles plays video games, watches anime, and spends time with his family. Broyles shares, “My dad is a retired veteran from the U.S. Army; my mother works in insurance and loves to go to West High football games; I have two brothers, one of whom is a vet tech and has a tremendous love for animals; my other brother lives in Connecticut and works for an IT company. We also have a family dog, which is a miniature Schnauzer."  With his family, Broyles has a miniature schnauzer and a chihuahua dachshund mix named Achilles with his girlfriend.

He has been inspired by many of West High’s staff, such as Mr. Todd, Mrs. Bradley, Mr. Abbott, Ms. Ripley, Mrs. Duval, Coach McCash, Coach Sanders, and Coach Salansky. Broyles prefers the cold and has always wanted to travel to Alaska. He expresses, “I love the cold weather more than anything! My favorite season is winter, if that tells you anything.” Broyles' favorite quote that he passes onto high school students is, “The struggles along the way are meant to shape you for your purpose.”
