On Monday, Oct. 28, the West High cross country team competed at Regionals in Daniel Boone. Coached by Sarah Bowen, the team has been working hard to make their training count and move up the next level. At Regionals, the top three teams get to go to State, and the girl's team placed fourth overall. Junior Andee Fitzgerald, Senior Zachary Henry, and Freshman Kennedie Couch all qualified for State. Coach Bowen states, "I wish I were a better coach. Truth." She has great admiration for her qualifiers. She expresses, "I am proud of Zach and Andee. Both qualified last year and [got their personal best] at the state meet in Hendersonville. I hope this is true again this year. For Kennedie to qualify as a freshman is promising." The state competition will be held Thursday, Oct. 31 and Friday, Nov. 1 in Hendersonville, TN. With such impressive outcomes, Bowen states, "I am hopeful for next season."
