Saturday, Jan. 25, Junior, Brady Ehret, won the award for the Robotic Drone league competition that took place at ETSU in Johnson City, Tennessee. Ehret received the award for leadership, innovation and great commitment. Richard Hawkins who teaches Engineering at West High School, commented that “The award was given to a student who showed knowledge, dedication, patience, ability to troubleshoot and make changes during the competition.” Hawkins also noted that Ehret is the team captain for the Code Force Coding and Robotics Club and also he has taken principles of Engineering and Technology, Digital Electronics and is currently in Robotics and Automated Technology.
The Robot Drone League (RDL) is a form of a hands-on competition where students of different ideas cooperate in science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). RDL has several competitions each year in the southeast region. West High competes in three to four of them including the National Competition that took place on Jan 25.
Ehret was also interviewed by Rory Comiskey. Comiskey has a podcast called “Igniting American Manufacturing” that is found on YouTube.com. Hawkins stated that he is proud of him and claimed that “Brady is an outstanding young man, he works hard and doesn't let anything slow him down. He has a drive to learn which makes him unstoppable”
