The initial FBLA and DECA meeting of the school year was a success. Hosted in Mrs.Patrick’s classroom, the meeting started off by introducing the sponsors and officers for this year. FBLA officers are Isabella Swanson, president, Tania Rogue vice president, Kaila Evans and Charlie Fitzgerald secretaries, Caitlyn Jones treasurer, and Sarah Jarnigan, historian. Chloe Seal is currently the president of DECA. Snack and sticky notes were handed out for students to write their names on for a drawing held at the end of the meeting.
After the introduction, the officers gave an explanation of both of the clubs to students. They explained the past competitions and upcoming competitions for this school year. They also discussed upcoming events such as the tailgate breakfast Sept. 6, which both of the clubs will have a table set up. FBLA and DECA dues are Sept. 25, $10 dollars for FBLA and $15 dollars for DECA. There is also an opportunity for members to buy a business club shirt for $11 dollars.
The next meeting will be held Monday Sept. 25 in Mrs. Patrick’s classroom. The Thanksgiving Drive will be held Oct. 30 through Nov. 17. Toys for tots at Central Services to sort toys for needy children is Sat. 12 through 16 from 9am to 12pm. January 2024 is when FBLA and DECA Regional Virtual Conferences will take place. Any student is welcome to join the business clubs.
