On Friday, October 25th, 2024 Jelly Roll came to Thompson Boling Arena. I was very privileged to be able to have floor seats. His concert lasted for about an hour and a half. His openers Warren Zeiders and Alexandra Kay started at seven. Then he proceeded them at nine.
At nine Jelly Roll opened with the song “I Am Not Okay”. Between each song he would briefly go over why he wrote the song. He wrote “I Am Not Okay” about his struggles with anxiety and facing each day with optimism. Jelly Roll talked about growing up in Antioch, Nashville Tennessee. It was always a dream for him to be able to sing at Thompson Boling Arena. Even though Jelly Roll struggled with addiction and staying in and out of jail. He has recently been able to spread awareness on the battle of addiction and how he overcame it.
Most of his songs are about his struggles with addiction. He played “Tears Could Talk” which was about how sorry he was to his daughter. During that song it triggered emotions from the crowd and even Jelly Roll himself. The concert was healing for those who were in the crowd suffering from their own battles. I personally thought the concert was a once and a lifetime opportunity and I definitely recommend attending a Jelly Roll concert.
