Recently West High welcomed our new teachers to the Trojan Nation with one being the new choir teacher Sophia Mangin.
Originally, she grew up in a small town in Southern Arkansas which in her words looks a lot like Morristown. Growing up she enjoyed choir and theater, going as far as to “Take as many shows and classes as possible.” She was drawn to the Trojan Nation due to the welcoming nature of the school where she has found that to be true since the first day of school.
Mangin has also stated she was inspired by her college professor Dr. Biddlecombe to be a better “Teacher, Leader, and Listener everyday.”
She got her bachelors in Music Education and her masters degree from both Vanderbilt in Nashville.
Her advice to new students is “To always try something new! You never know what you might fall in love with, and high school is a great time to see where your skills lie.”
