This year, Morristown-West welcomed a new English teacher, Kelsi Gibson. Gibson is a Morristown West alumnus. She was born and raised in Morristown. After graduating high school she graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in December 2021. She studied for three and a half years to get her bachelor's degree. Gibson also mentions “I'd also like to go to graduate school within the next few years to further my education.” She began her teaching career at East Ridge Middle School where she taught sixth- and eighth-grade English.

Gibson says “I've wanted to be a teacher since I was a little kid! I always liked the idea of getting to be a positive influence in someone's life and providing a positive role model. I know it mattered a lot to me as a student when teachers made my day just a little bit better with small things like smiles in the hallway or a "good morning," and I really want to be that sort of a teacher for my students.”

Gibson has many hobbies and interests. She notes "I'm a big reader, so that's probably my main hobby. I also love to swim, watch movies, go to concerts, crochet, and spend time with friends and family."

Gibson uses the quote "Life's a garden. Dig it." in her daily life. Some advice our new English teacher, Kelsi Gibson, has for students "Don't sweat the small stuff. If you genuinely put forth your best effort, that won't go unnoticed."
