New school nurse Moser hopes too contribute to West Highs vision

Updated: Aug 19

West High welcomes the new school nurse R Jeanelle Moser! She put in an application to the school district for a school nurse position, and when an opening came up at West, she was called for an interview. Moser commented, “ I really liked how the administration spoke about the students and faculty here and the type of school community they are trying to grow. I hope that I will be an asset to this community and be able to contribute to their vision.”

Moser has a bachelor’s degree in nursing and experiences in inpatient offices, home health nursing, and she has been in school nursing for 17 years. Moser is from the great state of Texas and when asked what her favorite part of school was growing up she explained, “  I am a huge nerd! I loved school. English and Literature were my favorite classes. I believe in being a life-long learner so I am frequently reading or taking classes just for fun." Moser noted that some hobbies she loves to do in her spare time are hiking, yoga, cooking, and she most recently started gardening and commented, “Remember that life-long learner comment - currently having a very high learning curve.”

Moser’s family consists of her fabulous husband named Jeff who tolerates all her shenanigans and she has two grown boys, one who lives here in Tennessee and one who lives in Texas. The person who inspired her to be a nurse was actually her own father’s nurse named Nancy. She worked with her right out of school, and she taught her the caring side to nursing as well as the technical side. “We have a toothless cat named Maggie and I have four hens; Buffy, Nugget, Runner and Ophelia. They are the BEST!!!!” Moser says she has done quite a bit of traveling and her favorite place so far has been France. She is really looking forward to going to England, Ireland, and Scotland soon. Some advice she has for high school students is, “Never give up on your dreams. Work hard, but don't forget to laugh and enjoy life too.”
