Getting recruited to play for college is every athlete's dream. West High Senior, John Rosen happened to be one of those athletes.
One of his memorable moments playing football at West was his first ever high school touchdown in the first game against East High School in 2023. One thing he is looking forward to his last season is to compete at a higher level with his best friends that he's been playing with since 6th grade.
The person that inspired him to play football was his brother, James Rosen who is a West High alumni. Rosen states, “We would always dress up as Tennessee football players for Halloween, we would watch all the football games together, we would always throw together, and everything.” Rosen also states, “My Dad. Ever since I started playing football, he was always the person to ask how practice went, how the team looks, how I did in my games, etc.”
One thing that excites Rosen about college football is being able to play for his dream school and meeting his new teammates and coaches. Rosen declares to younger athletes to, “never give up, never stop chasing your dreams, and to never stop living your dreams out.”
Some words Rosen would tell his younger self is to not listen to anyone that said he couldn't do it or that it would be too hard and that he should pick another dream to chase.
He couldn't believe it when he heard that he'd gotten an offer, He states, “When I went to Long-Snapping camp, the coach pulled me and my dad aside and offered me. I couldn’t believe what I heard. My dreams are coming true and I finally made it to the one thing that I have ever wanted in sports.” Other than Tennessee camp for snapping, he also went to Carson-Newman, East Tennessee State University, Middle Tennessee State University, and Austin Peay, where he also received offers from all those colleges. When asked if there was any football players on his future team that he looked up too, Rosen states, “Matthew Salansky, he is the starting Long-Snapper at the University of Tennessee and he is from my hometown, so by him accomplishing everything that i want reminds me that it is possible to achieve my dreams as well.”
West High wishes John Rosen an amazing senior year
