Tripucka turns Blue Gill Waste to plant fertilizer

Niccalia Cornett

The Greenhouse Management class is led by Mr. David Tripucka. His class utilizes hydroponics to fertilize plants. Hydroponics is taking the waste of fish and using it as fertilizer. Tripucka keeps Bluegills, which fertilizes the Greenhouse plants; tomatoes and ferns. The Bluegill are fed pond food.

With East and West students taking great care of the plants in the Greenhouse, Tripucka does a yearly Spring Sale for his plants, and his students help make the Valentine's Rose Bud vases. If one takes the class, he or she can join the FFA (Future Farmers of America) club that is closely associated with Greenhouse Management classes. FFA is a national organization that provides students with leadership skills and hands-on experiences in agricultural education.
