Ways to Help Neighbors In Mountain Wildfires

March 30, 2022 multiple fires broke out among The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Starting as a brushfire soon turned into much more. At 9 p.m. that night Tennessee Department of Agriculture declared that the fire had surrounded 1000 acres. The following morning the fire had grown to 3700 acres. Evacuation plans were also placed into action in the affected areas. Many other fires began to break out. As of March 31, 2022 it was reported that more than 300 structures were damaged with only one reporting of a civilian suffering with injury. Sevier County is now taking donations to https://www.mountaintough.org/ . They are also taking items such as: personal hygiene products, non- perishable food items, baby items, new clothes, and gift cards. The Sevier Animal Care Center is also taking donations for items such as pet food. Donations will be held at Sevier County Fairgrounds, but only during certain hours of the day.
