West High’s choir had a fantastic performance March 4 at the JB Lyle Festival. The group earned a superior rating and with that rating also earned the opportunity to compete in the state competition. They were judged based on performance and sight-reading. Morristown West High’s advanced choir performed in Greeneville at 9:00 A.M. competing against 30 other schools. Some of these schools included Morristown East, East Ridge, West Ridge, David Crockett, Cocke County and more.
The West High Choir worked incredibly hard to achieve this accomplishment. “In preparation,” Mrs. Younger says, “we learned the music, discussed the text, worked on dynamics and phrasing, videoed ourselves performing and watched it back, and we even had a mock performance where guest conductors come to judge us as if it were the real thing.”
