At the beginning of the school year, West welcomed several new staff members, and one of them is the new art teacher, Mrs. Stephanie Swift.
Swift was born and raised in New York and went to Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida. Swift and her husband eventually moved to Morristown two years ago with their puppy dogs. Swift's family includes her husband, Colte, and her two step sons, Tyler and Donovan. Swift mentions, “We have two dogs, a shiba inu (15) named Yumi and an Australian shepard (10) named Chewy.” Swift's hobbies include: gaming, jewelry making, origami, and all kinds of other creative things.
Swift was already working as a professional artist when she was contacted by Ms. Reed, an art teacher, at West High about an open position. Swift wanted her art to leave a legacy and later expressed, "What more positive impact is there than to educate future generations how to think creatively?" Swift goes on by revealing that her husband is her biggest inspiration. She quotes, “His unwavering support for all of my wild ideas has allowed me to excel in my business, Restless Originals, and follow my dreams. I wake up every day striving to be a better person thanks to him.” Swift wants her students to create intriguing art and learn how to speak about it. Swift states, “ I hope they develop respect for one another in their art journeys and also learn to think creatively to help shape humanity for the better!”
Lastly, Swift has a quote that has helped her through tough times. Swift expresses, "Deep wells must be dug if you want clear water.”
