Soccer is all about strategy, and on Tuesday, April 8, the West High men’s soccer team went against East and worked their way through the field at Burke-Toney Stadium with Jonathan Hanna and David Albright as their coaches. The soccer game started at 6:30 p.m. with a six dollar ticket fee and free admission with a student ID for West students. The match ended with a score of 0-2.Â
West showed great defense in the first half of the game with a score of 0-0. Many of the team members showed great promise and close shots. In the first half, David Martinez kicked two shots on target, but unfortunately got blocked by the keeper. Number two had good clearance when number 10 was through on the goal. Goalkeeper Emerson Paredes successfully prevented East’s freekick from getting in the goal. As East’s offense increased and West’s defense remained solid, East’s team scored 2 points and won the game in the second half. West played hard, and with this result, they will get back into the district mix of things on Friday, April 11 by hosting Sevier County.
